A software developer, also known as a computer programmer, is likely to work as part of a larger team on projects to design, build, implement, test, and maintain new pieces of software. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the IT industry, a strong academic background, a keen eye for detail and take enjoyment in solving problems.

This apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence and those completing the apprenticeship are eligible to apply for registration.

Technical competencies including logic, user interface, data, test, problem solving, design, analysis, deployment, deployment lifecycle.

Software development methodologies, software language, and software design approaches are also covered.

The apprentice must achieve one internationally recognised qualification from the following:

  • Cloud certified developer apache
  • Hadoop
  • C++
  • PHP
  • Drupal
  • Oracle SQL Developer
  • Oracle Java Certified
  • MTA/MCP programming in HTML5 with Javascript and CSS3
  • C#
